Trump Mobile: Trump organization unveils $499 smartphone, unlimited plans

US President Donald Trump’s family-owned Trump Organization on Monday announced the launch of Trump Mobile. The self-branded mobile network comes with a $499 smartphone and is expected to start operations by September this year.

Trump Mobile’s launch marks the entry of the Trump family into the telecom sector. The family of the US President is best known for their real estate, luxury hotels, and golf courses.

The mobile service is launched as the Trump family is testing some new areas like digital media and cryptocurrency. This comes as ethical concerns are raised around the launch of new businesses while Donald Trump is in the Oval Office.

Trump Mobile’s all-American suite of services

The Trump organization said that the call centers of Trump Mobile will be based in the United States, and a host of services will be provided at a monthly fee.

“We are going to be introducing an entire package of products where people can come and they can get telemedicine on their phones for one flat monthly fee, roadside assistance on their cars, unlimited texting to 100 countries around the world,” US President’s eldest son Donald Trump Jr. said as per Reuters.

The organization unveiled plans for the “T1 Phone,” a premium, gold-colored smartphone made in the US.

Donald Trump Jr. said that the device is designed to stand out and promise American-made quality.

The Americans will get this service plan for $47.45 a month, and it covers both calls and data. However, the company hasn’t shared much about exactly how much data you get or what extra perks might be included just yet.

Capitalization on Trump’s loyal support base

The branding of the Trump mobile seems to reflect Donald Trump’s playbook as its pre-launch poster mentions “Make America Great Again” (MAGA), which is the basis on which the US President crafted his return to the White House.

The branding approach taps into the political identity associated with Donald Trump’s name, and it can help in providing initial thrust to Trump Mobile as the newcomer faces stiff competition from established carriers and budget-friendly mobile providers

The launch of Trump Mobile can be a push to attract conservative customers with a wireless service designed to stand apart from the big telecom companies.

The Trump Organization website also clarified that the actual design, development, manufacturing, distribution, and sale of Trump Mobile’s products and services are handled by third-party companies, not directly by the Trump Organization.

“Trump Mobile, its products and services are not designed, developed, manufactured, distributed or sold by The Trump Organization or any of their respective affiliates or principals,” the website said.

The disclaimer helps the Trump organization limit legal liability in case of product issues or any other problems.

It clarifies to consumers and regulators that the Trump Organization is primarily licensing its brand and doesn’t operate around technical and logistical aspects of the business.

The entry into the mobile segment is recent development from Donald Trump’s business groups.

Recently, Trump Media announced it was going to invest $2.5 billion in Bitcoin.
