Trump Media Transfers 2,628 Bitcoin Worth $165 Million to…

Trump Media & Technology Group has transferred 2,628 Bitcoin, worth approximately $165 million, to cryptocurrency exchange Crypto.com, marking the latest large movement from the company’s digital asset treasury and prompting renewed speculation over whether the assets are being prepared for sale.

Blockchain analytics platforms flagged the transaction on August 2, showing the Bitcoin moving from wallets attributed to Trump Media to addresses identified as belonging to Crypto.com. Transfers to centralized exchanges are commonly associated with potential sales because exchanges provide liquidity, although companies also move assets for custody, collateral management and other operational reasons. As of publication, Trump Media had not publicly commented on the purpose of the transfer, and there is no on-chain evidence confirming that the Bitcoin has been sold. Without confirmation from the company or subsequent exchange activity, the transaction should not be interpreted as a completed disposal of assets.

The latest movement follows another substantial transfer earlier this year, when thousands of Bitcoin linked to Trump Media were also sent to Crypto.com. Together, the repeated transactions have intensified investor scrutiny of the company’s Bitcoin treasury management.

Treasury Strategy Under the Spotlight

Trump Media entered the corporate Bitcoin treasury race by purchasing approximately 11,542 BTC for around $1.37 billion, at an average acquisition price estimated at $118,522 per Bitcoin. The investment has since come under pressure following Bitcoin’s decline from its late-2025 highs. In its most recent quarterly earnings, the company reported a significant unrealized markdown on its cryptocurrency holdings, contributing to a quarterly net loss exceeding $400 million.

Today’s transfer has therefore attracted particular attention because investors are attempting to determine whether the company is reducing its exposure or merely relocating assets. Blockchain transfers alone cannot answer that question. Companies frequently use centralized exchanges for institutional custody, over-the-counter settlements, lending arrangements or internal treasury management without immediately liquidating holdings. If the Bitcoin is ultimately sold, however, it would represent another meaningful reduction in Trump Media’s original treasury allocation.

Corporate Bitcoin Holdings Face Greater Scrutiny

The transaction comes as publicly listed companies continue expanding their role as major Bitcoin holders, with investors increasingly monitoring treasury movements alongside traditional financial disclosures. Unlike exchange-traded funds, corporate Bitcoin reserves can change without immediate public announcements, leaving blockchain data as one of the earliest indicators of potential treasury activity.

That transparency also creates uncertainty. Large exchange deposits often trigger speculation because they resemble the first step in a sale, yet many ultimately prove to be non-selling transfers between custodians or service providers. Until Trump Media discloses the purpose of the latest transaction—or the Bitcoin leaves Crypto.com through identifiable settlement transactions—the market cannot conclude whether the company has materially reduced its Bitcoin exposure.

The transfer nevertheless represents another significant movement from one of the highest-profile corporate Bitcoin treasuries in the United States. Given the size of the transaction and the company’s previous crypto-related losses, investors will be watching closely for any regulatory filings or public statements that clarify whether the 2,628 BTC remains part of Trump Media’s long-term treasury strategy or has been converted into cash.
