AMD Stock: $511 the Day Before Results – What…

Updated 2 November 2026, before the US open. AMD traded at $511.16 in Monday’s pre-market at 8:09 am ET, up 1.26 percent from Friday’s $504.80 close (Nasdaq); Public.com showed $511.45. That is the day before third-quarter results on Tuesday 3 November after the close. Options price a move of about 9 percent either way, roughly $45 a share. Verdict: the market has stopped selling AMD for Intel’s PC warning but is not paying up before the print; the client guide and the MI450 ramp decide which side of the range Wednesday opens on. Reference levels: $465 below, $557 above.

Key facts

  • Pre-market: $511.16 at 8:09 am ET on 2 November, up $6.36 (1.26 percent), bid $511.01 / ask $511.51 (Nasdaq real-time quote).
  • Friday: closed at $504.80 on 30 October, down 10.88 percent from $566.42, after a $492.21-$520.40 range; there was no AMD-specific news, only Intel’s PC warning (StockAnalysis, Nasdaq).
  • Results: Tuesday 3 November after the close, call at 5 pm ET (AMD).
  • AMD’s own guide: third-quarter revenue of about $13.0 billion, plus or minus $300 million, with a non-GAAP gross margin of about 56 percent (AMD, 4 August).
  • Consensus: EPS of $1.95, up 62.5 percent on the year, on revenue of $13.09 billion, up 41.5 percent (TipRanks, 2 November).
  • Implied move: 8.95 percent, about $45.17 a share, per TipRanks on 2 November; EarningsWatcher had 8.8 percent on 30 October and OptionsLam about 8.4-8.9 percent for the weekly expiry. Sources agree on roughly 8.4-9.0 percent.
  • Analysts: 30 Buy and six Hold ratings, average target $664.31 (TipRanks).

What Monday’s pre-market says

On Friday AMD fell almost 11 percent on a report that was not its own. Monday’s pre-market won back $6.36 of the $61.62 it lost, while Intel itself traded lower (see our Intel Monday page). The split matters: buyers are treating Intel’s warning as an Intel problem first, but they are not yet willing to buy AMD back to Thursday’s $566.42 before hearing the client guide.

Technical analysts flag the same zone. TradingKey pointed to support near $513 before the weekend, and Traders Union named $528 as resistance with the next support at $479. The pre-market price sits right on the first of those.

What Tuesday’s report has to show

1. The client guide. Intel guided its client computing revenue down more than 20 percent sequentially and said the PC slowdown lasts into 2027. AMD’s fourth-quarter client outlook is the first independent check. A guide that holds up better than Intel’s says Intel is losing share; a matching guide says the whole market is shrinking.

2. Data Center and the MI450 ramp. Helios rack systems built on MI450 began production shipments in September (FX Leaders). Susquehanna’s Christopher Rolland, Buy with a $650 target, expects the ramp to build through the fourth quarter and the first half of 2027. Stifel’s Ruben Roy raised his target to $700 from $635 in October and expects a beat-and-raise quarter, while Jefferies’ Blayne Curtis, at $650, noted that first shipments do not guarantee a high-volume ramp (TipRanks, Benzinga).

3. Gross margin. AI accelerators carry slightly lower margins during the ramp. A fourth-quarter margin guide below the third quarter’s roughly 56 percent would be the cost of faster AI growth, and the market will decide on Tuesday night whether it pays for it.

The week-ahead AMD page covers last quarter’s numbers and the Intel read-through in more detail.

How AMD has traded on results

AMD’s last four earnings moves averaged 11.37 percent in absolute terms, more than options are pricing now (TipRanks). In August the stock fell 7.0 percent against a priced 8.0 percent; in May it rose 18.6 percent against 8.8 percent (EarningsWatcher). History says the 9 percent priced move is a middle estimate, not a ceiling.

AMD into results: bull, base and bear

Scenario AMD What has to happen Anchor
Bear $465 The client guide confirms Intel’s PC slowdown, Helios volume slips into 2027 and the margin guide drops below 56 percent. About 9 percent below the $511.16 pre-market price, the bottom of the options-implied range.
Base $495-$530 An in-line quarter near $13.1 billion with a client guide softer than usual but better than Intel’s. Between Friday’s close and Traders Union’s $528 resistance.
Bull $557 A beat-and-raise on Data Center, MI450 volume confirmed for the fourth quarter and a client guide that shows share gains. About 9 percent above the pre-market price, the top of the implied range and still below Thursday’s $566.42 close.

The bear case sits below the current price. The analyst average of $664.31 is a 12-month view and is listed separately above. These are reference levels measured from the verified pre-market quote, not forecasts.

What to watch

  • Monday’s close against $504.80: holding Friday’s level into the print would show the Intel selling is over.
  • The fourth-quarter revenue guide and the client line within it.
  • Any MI450 volume figure for the fourth quarter.
  • The gross margin guide against about 56 percent.
  • Memory names: AMD’s commentary on memory costs feeds straight into the Micron setup.

Quick take: AMD traded at $511.16 before Monday’s open, up 1.3 percent after Friday’s 11 percent drop on Intel’s PC warning. Options price about a 9 percent move on Tuesday’s results, roughly $465 to $557. Consensus is $1.95 EPS on $13.09 billion. The client guide answers the Intel question; the MI450 ramp and the margin guide decide the size of the move.
