Webull Sets November Start for US Crypto Perpetual Futures

Webull plans to begin rolling out perpetual futures to eligible US customers in November, adding Bitcoin and selected crypto assets to its derivatives offering through Kalshi’s exchange and clearing infrastructure. The contracts will be listed on KalshiEX LLC, a CFTC-regulated designated contract market, and cleared through Kalshi Klear LLC, a CFTC-regulated derivatives clearing organization. Webull expects broader availability before year-end. The structure gives the brokerage a route into crypto perps without operating the exchange or clearinghouse itself.

Perpetuals Remove Expiration, Not the Cost of Carry

A perpetual future has no fixed expiry date, so a trader does not need to close or roll the position when a contract matures. Instead, a periodic funding payment is intended to keep the contract price aligned with the underlying asset. Depending on the rate and which side of the trade the customer holds, funding can become a recurring cost or payment. A position can remain open only while it satisfies margin requirements, and Webull says positions may be automatically liquidated if margin falls below maintenance levels.

That structure can make perpetuals convenient for maintaining directional exposure, but it is not simply a spot position with a different label. Leverage magnifies gains and losses relative to posted collateral; liquidation can occur before a trader can respond; and funding costs can erode a position even if the underlying price moves little. The contract’s index, calculation method, funding interval, margin schedule, fees, trading hours and liquidation process will determine how closely it behaves to a trader’s expectations.

Webull has not yet disclosed those specifications or identified the full list of initial crypto contracts. It says the product will be available through existing Webull Futures accounts for customers approved to trade futures. That points to an approval and account framework, but the details will matter to users comparing the new contracts with spot crypto, listed futures and offshore perpetual platforms.

Domestic Exchange and Clearing Are the Differentiators

The US rollout is significant because perpetual futures have primarily been associated with offshore crypto venues. Here, the named venue is KalshiEX and the clearinghouse is Kalshi Klear. A designated contract market provides the exchange framework, while a derivatives clearing organization manages clearing and counterparty exposure. Webull Futures is the customer-facing futures commission merchant, which carries and services customers’ futures accounts. Those roles should not be collapsed into a claim that Webull itself is the exchange or that the product has the same structure as spot crypto trading.

Using regulated exchange and clearing infrastructure can provide rules, disclosures and clearing protections tied to that framework. It does not eliminate trading losses, guarantee execution at a desired price or make futures accounts equivalent to securities accounts. Webull’s own disclosure says futures accounts are not protected by SIPC. Customers will need to understand the applicable futures risk disclosure, margin practices and the specific contract rules before trading.

The launch also gives Kalshi a brokerage distribution partner as it broadens beyond event contracts. Its existing perpetual business and plans for more markets show that it is developing a wider derivatives offering. Kalshi Pro includes a dedicated perps interface, and the exchange has explored a US500 perpetual as well as contracts tied to individual US stocks. Wider access could grow volume, but market depth, funding transparency and the resilience of liquidation processes will shape whether retail users stay with the product.

Volume Claims Need a Clear Denominator

Webull Group President and US CEO Anthony Denier cited more than $90 trillion in global perpetual-futures volume during 2025. The company’s statement does not provide a methodology or a source breakdown for that total. Kalshi has also cited the figure for offshore perps. It should therefore be treated as an estimate of activity across a global market, not a measure of US retail demand or the volume Webull can capture. Reported turnover can include repeated trading of the same exposure and does not equal open interest, customer assets or net risk transferred.

Market integrity is relevant to the distribution strategy. Kalshi’s crypto perpetual trading has drawn questions about concentrated trade sizes and the relationship between reported volume and open interest. FinanceFeeds reviewed recurring trades in public data, while the exchange moved to end a volume-incentive program. Those reports concern Kalshi’s existing activity and do not establish a defect in Webull’s forthcoming service. They do make transparent contract-level volume and market-quality reporting important as the venue adds a larger retail channel.

Access Is Only the First Step

Webull says its interface will show margin requirements, funding rates, leverage and liquidation levels, a useful baseline for a product where those variables can determine realized returns. It has not said which leverage limits will apply or whether customers will be able to access every contract in every state. Nor does the announcement specify the product’s daily trading hours. If Webull makes the contracts available around the clock, the operational test will include how customers can add margin outside banking hours, how funding is calculated across weekends and what happens if prices gap while an account cannot be funded. The CFTC has specifically solicited industry views on margin movement and automatic liquidation in 24/7 derivatives markets, underscoring that continuous access creates an operational risk question as well as a convenience feature. Those unanswered details are material because leverage, liquidity and margin can differ sharply across crypto assets.

For Webull, the strategic appeal is an additional derivatives product inside a platform where customers already access stocks, options, crypto and futures. For Kalshi, the partnership could bring new flow and widen its profile as an exchange. The test will be whether customers understand the funding and liquidation mechanics, whether the contracts maintain reliable liquidity through volatile periods, and whether the regulatory framework can support growth without obscuring risk. A November rollout sets a timetable; it does not yet establish the shape or competitiveness of the offering.
